Milestones

  • April 2006: project starts
  • September 2006: first team meeting in Oshkosh, WI
  • October 2, 2006: we received the official notification that DARPA selected our team to receive 1 million dollars as a support to our research
  • February 2007: Nevada: during our tests, we used for the first time the ROC (Robotics Operation Center). It's a motor home outfitted with workstations and networking equipment including satellite internet and a WLAN to TerraMax computers. With all the comforts of home, the ROC can accommodate up to 10 engineers who can work on TerraMax simultaneously, and serves as an observation platform. Additionally, the ROC provides ample storage for spare parts and support equipment.
  • June 26, 2007: Site Visit: DARPA officials tested TerraMax's ability to stop in an emergency, plan a route, pass stationary vehicles, take it's turn at a 4-way intersection, and complete u-turns. We are happy to report that TerraMax performed as expected, completing all of the required tasks.
  • August 9, 2007: we were selected by DARPA together with other 35 teams to compete in the NQE (qualifications) that will take place in Victorville, CA, on late October 2007. The NQE will select the 20 best teams that will be allowed to compete in the race taking place on November 3, 2007.
  • November 3, 2007, after 90 minutes of good autonomous driving, the team was forced to quit by a  problem to a PC.
